helloWorld();
This semester has been insane. I'm still unemployed. I've been really full up on homework every night. I'm working with two of my classmates to create an online recipe management system using Java and MySQL. It's not that complex but we're utilizing proper systems analysis and design techniques the whole way, which is fun (kinda). I'm also learning assembly language in my computer architecture course. We're designing a CPU emulator for some scientific robots. My non-major classes are interesting as well. I think currently I'm carrying all A's, or close to that figure.
Student Government Association is going well, I believe we'll actually accomplish some good things this year, so keep your eyes peeled to events around IUSB if you attend. We're hoping to get a revised smoking ban that will designate a smoking area on campus instead of a campus-wide ban that isn't enforced. We're working on getting more 24 hour study spaces, beefing up security around the school, and improving the way advising is done across campus.
I've also been working with some other students in starting a radio station on campus. Actually having a broadcast frequency on FM radio is a pipe dream at the moment but we're working on getting an internet stream up and potentially having a 1 credit hour class next semester, which would grab some much needed support from the administration.
I've been too busy to keep up with some of my favorite hobbies. My bass is collecting dust in the corner of my room, my blog has been neglected, and my camera has sat with an empty memory card for a few weeks (although I did take some pictures today).
No one else has been blogging either though, I suppose they are busy as well.
Summer Goals
Being unemployed gives me a lot of time. Aside from waking up at noon, I am trying to accomplish things this summer. I figure that I might as well make an itemized list of things I will complete.
1. Make a dedicated Linux box with Subversion.
2. Learn to use Subversion properly.
3. Utilize Subversion on all of my new projects / documents / notes.
4. Embrace gdb.
5. Take more photos.
6. Play bass more.
More to come..
